This exhibit showcases watercolor paintings from members of the Utah Watercolor Society. The Utah Watercolor Society was founded December 30, 1974, and continues to operate as a Utah Non-profit Corporation and Cooperative Association, exempt from taxes under IRC 501(c)(3). The mission of UWS is to promote the advancement of the art of painting watercolors, and to hold annual exhibitions of watercolors. Watercolors are defined here as paintings in transparent and/or opaque water media, or unvarnished water soluble media on paper.
This exhibition will be on display in the Attic until June 13.
If you are a regular submitter to the Homegrown Art Show, you might be looking for our application form this February. We are still hosting the Homegrown Art Show this year, but for a variety of reasons, we are moving it to the Fall (this move will most likely be permanent). Submissions will be due at the end of August; the show will be open in October.
Thank you for your interest--keep making great art!
"While making these paintings, I was aware of the amount of energy I put into activities that propelled me forward and activities that kept me stagnant and was intentional in the decision to not push every painting forward, realizing that each painting I chose not to complete opened up space, time, and energy to complete many others. Embracing the opportunity to make false starts and abandon them created freedom to explore and try different things and not feel stuck to them. The process of formation involves both completion and letting go, as in landforms where there is both building up and erosion.
"At this point in my career, I feel a lot of freedom to create what I want to create. I feel the support of my community, and I let myself explore a variety of creative interests and outlets. Still, in my choice of subject, I keep returning to landscapes, and it’s nice that I can continue to choose to do this thing that I love so much."
