INTERACTIVE MOVIES
What is an interactive movie?
An interactive movie is when a group of people watches a movie together and interacts with what is happening on the screen in various ways. This could include booing a villain, singing along to a song, throwing snowballs at the screen, eating a treat with the movie characters, or cheering when the hero conquers their foes! It’s loud and a little crazy but a whole bunch of fun!
Below are some of the interactive movies we have done at the library. If you would like to have fun with them at home, check out the props list, print out the script, and have a blast!
Elf
What you will need for this interactive movie:
- Access to the moive Elf (Check it out from the Library!)
- Copies of the script
- Props for each person participating in the interactive movie:
- Handheld inflatable microphone
- Small bag of candy (at least 10 pieces)
- 12" balloon
- Small package of cookies/or one homemade cookie
- Piece of bubble gum flavored taffy
- Jingle bell
- Candy cane (small is recommended)
- Small bag of mini marshmallows
- Small bottle of water or soda
- Small bag of candy corns
- 3 pieces of paper, balled up (to use as snowballs)
Frozen
What you will need for this interactive movie:
- Access to Disney's Frozen (Check it out from the Library!)
- Copies of the script
- Props for each person participating in the interactive movie:
- White ribbon wand
- Single serving bag of veggie straws
- White 12" balloon
- 2 pieces of chocolate
- Small stone or "troll rock"
- 3 pieces of paper, balled up
- Red glow stick
High School Musical
What you will need for this interactive movie:
- Access to the movie High School Musical (Check it out from the Library!)
- Copies of the script
- Props for each person participating in the interactive movie:
- Handheld inflatable microphone
- Beach ball that looks like a basketball (or an orange balloon)
- Small bag of cookies
- Party horn
- Individual serving bag of Nacho Doritos
Muppet Christmas Carol
What you will need for this interactive movie:
- Access to the movie Muppet Christmas Carol (Check it out from the Library!)
- Copies of the script
- Props for each person participating in the interactive movie:
- Jingle bell
- Small bag of cookies
- Party blower
- Small wrapped gift with a surprise inside
The Nightmare Before Christmas
What you will need for this interactive movie:
- Access to the movie The Princess Bride (Check it out from the Library!)
- Copies of the script
- Props for each person participating in the interactive movie:
- Small snowflake ornament
- Party blower or noisemaker
- Piece of Easter candy
- 2 dice
- Jingle bell
- Plastic craft needle
- Length of black yarn
- 3 pieces of colored paper (to be wadded up and act as missiles)
- Candy cane
- Piece of Christmas candy
The Princess Bride
What you will need for this interactive movie:

- Long balloon sword
- Small drink
- Piece of chocolate

Tangled
